What I've Been Watching

I haven't done this in so long. While I'm certain no one cares, I'm going to make this post anyway.

Desperate Housewives

I've been watching this show since high school and only recently did I finally sit down and watch it from beginning to end. So amazing. I miss it now that it's gone. This show is so addicting, that Eric got addicted to it. Now he no longer makes fun of my "girl shows". Win win.
10/10

Gossip Girl

It's been a long time coming, but now that this show is on Canadian Netflix, I'm finally going to find out how the series ends. I've watched almost the entire thing a couple of years ago but it was too hard to find episodes online because I had no cable. I started rewatching from the beginning this time, and I'm addicted all over again.
9/10

How I Met Your Mother

One of my favorite shows since 2005 is over. I am so sad about that. There were a lot of mixed reviews about the finale, mostly bad reviews though. At first, I wasn't a fan but the more I thought about it, the more okay with it I am. The show started getting cheesy from seasons 7-9, but the last couple of episodes made up for it. I just wish they would've focused on Ted and the mother a little more. They had amazing chemistry.
8/10

Big Brother Canada 2

I've been a Big Brother fan for awhile. Things are just about to get really interesting in this season and I can't wait.

What I've Been Watching - A lot of awesome

[ via - (link contains spoilers) }

Raising Hope

I've loved this show since the first couple of minutes of the first episode. It's so random, quirky, fun. Jimmy knocks up a serial killer, who gets the electric chair after giving birth. So he's raising his daughter, Hope, with the help of his crazy family.

It has all the redneck hilarity of My Name is Earl (and a lot of surprise appearances from the actors of Earl), except it's funnier and you can't help but love them all.

Oh, and Katy Perry plays a hot cop in one of the episodes.

I can't say enough good things about this show. Watch it.

PS I Love You

It wasn't my first time watching this movie, but I still love it. It's so sweet, with a lot of funny moments. And let's face it, we all have a huge crush on Gerard Butler, don't we?

Holly's husband dies of cancer. Before he dies he writes a series of letters to her, telling her to do stuff, helping her move on. It sounds a little creepy, but it's adorable.
- 4.5 / 5 stars. [ PS I Love You on imdb ]

Harry Potter

I'm a little late to the party, but I finally watched the entire series of Harry Potter movies. I originally read the first five books in high school, but never read or watched the ending. After a lot of bugging encouraging from boyfriend, we finally finished the series last week. The Deathly Hallows part one was incredibly boring and I hope to never watch it again, but part two was great. For the first time, I wasn't falling asleep at all, and I managed to watch the whole movie in one sitting. It took two sittings to watch most of the rest. I'm an old lady, and can't stay up late.

But to get back on topic, great series. I wish I would've watched them in theater like everyone else, but I was stubborn and wanted to read the books first. I'm glad I finally gave in and just watched them all. Someday I wouldn't mind going back and reading all the books from start to finish.

What I've Been Watching: Being Erica & United States of Tara

It's time for another edition of What I've Been Watching, the series where I tell you what I've been watching lately, and what I think about it. It doesn't get any better than this.

House

House. He's a brilliant doctor, and he's rude, mean, sarcastic, and hilarious.

I'm finally nearing the end of season 4, so there's still a lot for me to go through. It's taking me forever because while I enjoy the show, if I'm home with my daughter I prefer something mindless that I don't have to pay a lot of attention to. I'm with my daughter a lot.

So maybe an update is in order if I ever finish the series. I bought the first few seasons years ago, so don't hold your breath on an update anytime soon.

Being Erica

This is now one of my favorite shows. It's Canadian (bonus!) It's about Erica (obviously!) who's going through a rough patch in her life until she meets her new therapist, Dr Tom. Dr Tom is special. She has a list of regrets, and one-by-one he sends her back in time to relive them and learn from them.

It is a great show about self-discovery. It may have some cheesy moments, but it does teach you something every now in then. This show has managed to make me laugh and cry so many times, and always keeps me interested.

The final season gets a little confusing, with all the present/future people, but you'll have to watch to understand. Well worth the watch. I'm just sad that there's only 4 seasons, and as I write this I'm a couple of episodes away from the end.
- 5/5 stars. [Being Erica on imdb]

United States of Tara

To keep it simple, Tara is a wife and mother of two. She also has multiple personalities. She has three main ones: T, who is basically an annoying teen girl; Buck, who is basically a male redneck; Alice, who is a conservative housewife. She gains another one or two as the show goes on.

This show sucked me in immediately, although it might not be for everyone. There's swearing, there's violence, there's sex scenes so intense that you don't want to watch this with.. well anyone you wouldn't want to watch sex scenes with.

I'm on the last season, so my opinion might not be complete, but so far I love it.

What I've Been Watching

Tv is my relax time, and boyfriend time lately, since I've been so busy I don't have the energy for much else. Somedays, tv time is also nap time or bed time. So here's what I've been watching these days, starting with current shows that are on tv.

[ via ]

90210

I started watching this show just before I had Chloe. I pretty much raced through the first few seasons of the show while I was up all night dealing with a newborn. It was different when I got to the end and had to wait for Netflix to update the new episodes. I'm still watching, and even though some of the story lines are getting old, and everyone has dated, well, everyone, it's still a good, mindless show to pass the time. Plus, I always can't wait to see who's going to cheat on who or what trouble Naomi is going to get into next. I love the drama.
- 3.5/5 stars. [ 90210 on imdb ]

Dexter

I was watching the older seasons of Dexter when I posted in August, and I've finally caught up and am watching the episodes as they air. Though no other season has been as good as season 4 with the Trinity Killer, the current season is pretty interesting now that Deb knows about Dexter's killing, and he risks getting caught in so many way.
- 4/5 stars still. [ Dexter on imdb ]

How I Met Your Mother

While this has been my favorite show since the first season, and while I still absolutely love seasons 1 and 2, and still love 3-5 just a little less, season 6 wasn't as great, I don't remember as much of season 7, and so far season 8 is just too darn cheesy. I still love the show, and probably always will, but it just seems to get cheesier and cheesier by the episode. It's getting a little less funny, and that makes me sad.
- 3.5/5 stars. [ How I Met Your Mother on imdb ]
I've been watching more, but this is enough for one day.

What have you been watching?

Ps.. Head over to the Facebook page and tell me what's the most creative Christmas gift you've ever received.

What I've Been Watching -{ TV Edition }

I've been getting in a lot of tv time lately. Sometimes just as background noise while I play with the baby, or while I'm laying in bed, because it clears my head and gets me to sleep faster. Either way, I've been watching a few good things, and some not as good.

Til Death

The show is about Eddie and Joy, who have been married for 20ish years. Jeff and Steph are newly weds and move in next door. The first episode is about a pool table. Jeff wants a pool table, Eddie tells him exactly how that conversation with his wife will probably go, and it does. Eddie also teaches Jeff how to trick his new wife into letting him get the pool table. Mix in a little bit about the wives swapping info, and you've got comedy.

When I first started watching this show, I was in love. And I was excited because there were 81 episodes on Netflix and I love a long show. Steph and Jeff (Finch from American Pie!) make the show. They, mixed with the main characters, Joy and Eddie, are hilarious. Then, one day I realized Jeff and Steph hadn't been in the past few episodes.  Then, there they were - almost as background characters in a couple of episodes. They weren't written out. They didn't move or die. They just disappeared without being mentioned. Had they been mentioned, maybe I would've dealt with this better, but no, they disappeared.

My second pet peeve about this show, is the lack on consistency with the actress(es) who play Joy and Eddie's daughter Ally. Four actresses.

[ via ]
That, teamed up with the fact that the last season is not-so-good, and episodes are crazy out of order, I'm just struggling to finish the series. (Read another similar opinion) Also, I can't stand the character Doug (Ally's boyfriend). At all. But the first few seasons are great!
- 4/5 stars, except season four is 1/5 stars -[Til Death on imdb]

Dexter

If you haven't heard of it, Dexter is a serial killer. But he only kills other killers, so in a way he's the good guy, or something. Either way, they make him out to be the good guy and you're always rooting for him. He's also works with the cops, which makes it more interesting. Each season is based upon one big serial killer that the department is trying to track down, but also has a bunch of little killers thrown in the midst. It gives some extra fun and mystery to every episode. Very easy to get addicted to.

I'm only near the end of season five (no spoilers please!), so I haven't finished it yet, but I'm really enjoying it. I love that there's always one major plot line throughout the whole series, then a few smaller ones that last a couple of episodes. It always keeps you intrigued. While I'm loving it, I just wish the episodes were a bit shorter. It's a hard show to watch when I'm sleepy.
- 4/5 stars. [Dexter on imdb]

Degrassi: The Next Generation

If you're into the series but haven't watched this far yet, this may contain SPOILERS, so beware.

This season consists of Emma dating Peter, until Sean comes back and shakes things up. Manny is still dating Craig, but that gets a little shaken up as well. Ellie, Paige, Marco, etc are all off at college. Paige has some troubles. Ellie has a crush on her newspaper's editor. Insert lots of other drama with them, and everyone else and you've got typical Degrassi.

I've only recently watched season 6, because I just bought it. As usual in Degrassi, there's so much love and drama that the entire season just flies by. I wish I had all the seasons. I'm a bigger fan of the first half of the series (with Emma, Manny, JT, Toby, Ashley, Spinner, etc), as opposed to what's currently playing.
- 4/5 stars. [Degrassi on imdb]

What I've Been Watching: Movies

Usually I watch way too many tv shows throughout the day/before bed. Kind of like background noise while I play with the baby or before I go to sleep. This past week or so I've been more into watching movies, which is a little unusual for me, but I've been enjoying it. Here's what I've seen so far:

[ via ]

Dear John

Girl and guy meet, guy is in the army so he's leaving in two weeks and she's going back to college. Of course they fall in love, write letters, he ends up having to stay long than expected. It puts a strain on things.

Wow, finally a Nicholas Sparks movie that wasn't completely predictable and didn't really depress me. I knew I'd enjoy the movie, I just figured it would end with me being sad.
8/10

Remember Me

Guy has a bad experience with a cop, finds out he has a daughter and his friend convinces him to meet the daughter. I forget what their original intentions with her were, probably to get back at the cop, but either way they date, of course. She lost her mother, he lost his brother so they bond over that.

Definitely not an ending I was expecting. It's a really easy movie to get into, and is really good once, but I'm not sure I'd watch it a second time.
7/10

The Other Woman

I like Natalie Portman. In this one, she steals another woman's husband, they get married, have a baby, lose the baby. She's all depressed after losing the baby (of course) but takes it out on everyone, including the man's son from his former marriage.

This movie was pretty sad. Only because I have a baby girl of my own so all kinds of sad thoughts were running through my head as I watched it. I liked the ending. Not the fairytale ending, but still kind of perfect.
7/10

13 Going on 30

This movie I think is aimed at a slightly younger crowd than me, but it's just my type. 13 year old girl wishes she was 30, so boom she wakes up and she's 30. She finds her former best friend from when she was 13, but he's about to marry someone else. She finds out how horrible of a person she's been since she was 13.

It's a cute, feel-good movie. The thriller dance-off is my favorite. I live for those super unrealistic dancing movie scenes.
8/10
